Coach Hesson
Asst. Athletic Director/Head Coach Cross Country/Head Coach Girls Track
Education: Ingram Tom Moore High School, Ingram Texas, Angelo State University – Bachelor of Science, Lamar University – Master of Education
Family: I have 2 dogs – Abby and Lucy. I am very close to my nephew and nieces.
Favorite Sports Memory: I have a couple… I won State my freshman year in High School in the 3200m run when the State meet was still in Memorial Stadium. I will never forget the crowd and the overwhelming feeling of that race!
Another memory even better than that was when I coached a State Championship Cross Country team in 1997. The girls came up short the year before by getting 2nd by only 3 points. The year we won it… well, coaching the kids to do it was a far better feeling than me winning it as an individual.
Favorite Team: I love our Stevens Falcons! I also enjoy going to the Star’s basketball games and the UTSA Football games.
What is your favorite part of coaching: Taking a group of individuals and coaching them into becoming a team that really gets what the end goal is and everyone doesn’t mind making sacrifices towards that common goal. When this happens, we are hard to beat and that is when coaching is the most rewarding and enjoyable.
